What are Events?

Events happen whenever a monitor's status changes. Pinger Man monitors have the following event types. Some events generate an Alert for which email notifications are sent.

Event Types

• Monitor Started: This event occurs as soon as a Monitor is created. It does not generate alerts.
• Monitor Up: Occurs when a monitor goes up. Alerts are generated when this state is reached from a previously Down state.
• Monitor Down: Occurs when a monitor goes down. Alerts are generated when this state is reached from a previously Up state.
• Monitor Paused: Occurs when a monitor is paused by a user. It does not generate alerts.

Viewing Events

Events can be viewed from two locations. Global Events can be seen by going to the Events Area of the application (accessible through the left sidebar). This shows events across all monitors. Events for a monitor can be seen by clicking on a Monitor and going to the Events tab. The details for the events include it's type, when it Started, when it Finished (empty if the event is ongoing), how long the monitor was in this state and a small description to indicate things like status codes.
